Gangothri Dham is the start of the River Ganga. Popular Hindu legends suggests that the River Ganga took birth here considering the way that Lord Shiva decided to let the amazing stream out of the locks of his hair. Focused on Goddess Ganga, Gangothri Dham is the second of the four asylums at the Chota Char Dham Route. The foundation to this safe-haven was laid by Nepalese General Amar Singh Thapa. Gaumukh, the blessed nose of the Gangotri Glacier is where the solid stream begins its journey. This setting is arranged around 19 kilometers from Gangotri. Some well known severe regions like the Bhagirath Shila and the Pandava Gufa are also present close to the Gangothri Dham.
